Yvonne Harris

Audience Development

Yvonne has extensive experience in research and evaluation across the cultural sector, especially museums.

Over the past fifteen years Yvonne has devised and undertaken front-end research, prototype testing and formative and summative evaluations across a range of live and digital projects, including exhibitions, festivals, visitor trails and online resources. She is adept at working with a variety of audiences including industry professionals, students, teachers, incoming communities, older people, mental health service users and children with autism.

As an evaluation consultant Yvonne’s clients have included the Department for Culture Media and Sport, the British Library, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Natural History Museum, Kew Gardens, London Zoo and a number of other national and regional visitor attractions.

Most recently Yvonne has managed the evaluation of flagship programmes at Arts Council England, including the Digital R&D Fund, The Space, Catalyst, the legacy evaluation of the Cultural Olympiad of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games (in conjunction with Locog, Legacy Trust UK and the Mayor’s Office), the Libraries Development Initiative, and the Artists International Development Fund (n conjunction with the British Council). Yvonne has also been responsible for devising and implementing an evaluation strategy for Arts Council England that includes a suite of performance indicators which enables the Council to evaluate its performance against corporate objectives.

Prior to this Yvonne was the Evaluation Manager for Culture Online at DCMS.  This role included designing and embedding monitoring and evaluation strategies for each of the 26 commissioned projects as well as scoping and directing an overarching programme of evaluation to demonstrate the impact of Culture Online’s funding and public accountability to DCMS. This large-scale programme included a wide-range of national partners including the BBC, Channel 4, the National Theatre, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the British Film Institute and Cambridge University.

Yvonne has also worked in academia, researching the quality of higher education in the UK; on the product testing of interactive web and mobile projects for Sony; and as an Audience Research Manager for the Science Museum’s trading division.

Yvonne has a BSc Honours degree in Psychology from the University of Birmingham and is an accredited PRINCE2 project management practitioner.
