Curatorial and Interpretation

Claire is a curator and educator with a broad range of international museum experience. Passionate about the creative use of collections to engage and develop audiences, she specialises in exhibits, programmes and learning resources that increase access to art, history and cultural heritage.

Claire worked for Qatar Museums for four years, managing a Curatorial & Collections department, contributing to the strategic planning and concept design for a new museum, and delivering a wide variety of family and schools programmes. She is now working with KCA on a number of projects in the Gulf region, including the development of learning resources for the Etihad Museum in Dubai.

Before moving to Qatar, Claire was Senior Curator at London Transport Museum. Specialising in the Underground’s art and design heritage, she curated two major temporary exhibitions – The Art of the Poster (2008-9), which toured to Germany, Denmark and the US, and Mind the Map: Inspiring Art Design & Cartography (2012). She also developed content for publications, permanent galleries and online collections resources, as well as commissioning many new works by contemporary artists.

Claire is a History of Art graduate with Masters degrees in Museum & Gallery Studies and Sculpture Studies. In addition to freelance curating, Claire teaches on the MA in Museums, Galleries and Contemporary Culture at the University of Westminster, where she is involved in several research projects relating to multisensory learning and inclusive design.
