Since 1991, Vicky has been developing informal learning experiences within museums for children and young people.
Vicky is committed to developing and involving target audiences in the development process. She has developed exhibitions and learning programmes at The Science Museum, London; Discover, East London – a hands-on story-building centre; the new science centre, Explore@Bristol; Eureka! The Museum for Children, Halifax; The National Maritime Museum; educational outside play-spaces in schools; and exhibits especially tailored for a special needs school. She has also worked with a number of arts organisations, including Action for Children’s Art. She has a PhD for research which explores the process of developing hands-on educational exhibits for children.
Vicky has worked internationally, developing two exhibitions in science centres in Australia; training early years teachers at the Science Centre, Trinidad; creating a touring outreach programme for children in Syria; carrying out museum research in Taiwan; setting up creative programmes for children in India and mentoring two musicians during their residencies in India. She is currently working on a new exhibition for the Science Museum Oklahoma, and planning a programme for creative activities in Saudi Arabia. She is also acting as a consultant to the emerging Children’s Museum London
