Joe has international experience of delivering impactful, fun and engaging visitor experiences. His wide understanding of manufacturing techniques is complimented by an in-depth and up to date knowledge of how to use existing and emerging technologies to effectively connect audiences with content.
A skilled fabricator with a background in the film and special effects industry, Joe worked for many years at the Science Museum where he designed and developed exhibits for a host of award winning exhibitions and attractions. This included the Caspian Energy Centre in Azerbaijan and the highly interactive travelling exhibition ‘Science of Sport’, touring America, Europe and China to celebrate the Beijing Olympic Games.
With KCA London, Joe has directed the development of interactive exhibits and installations across the leisure, attraction and heritage industries. He is also a requested expert speaker on the subject of visitor engagement and trends in exhibit technology, including the UCL Qatar, Museum & Heritage Show and Trends in Leisure and Entertainment (TiLE). With KCA Joe has designed over sixty exhibits for the Massar Discovery Centre in Syria; developed the exhibits for the world’s first Science of Soccer exhibition in South Africa; directed the exhibits for the Royal Beasts exhibition at the Tower of London, which received over 50,000 visitors within its first four days of opening; and managed the design and development of more than fifty hands-on and multimedia exhibits for Mishkat, Riyadh.
Joe has designed exhibits for an Early Years gallery at the National Maritime Museum and the Francis Crick Institute. His most recent projects have included design development for Sorted!, an under 8s postal-themed play space at the new Postal Museum, London and developing exhibit ideas and courses for the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum.
