The challenge was to transform a 4,200 square meter retail facility into a world class science centre. The project delivery programme was only nine months.
We formed a solid foundation for the project, producing a detailed vision for Mishkat including content messaging, interpretation planning and visitor programming. We talked to Saudi teenagers and teachers to ensure the content was culturally relevant and the experiences truly connected. This formed a launch pad for the project, presenting a coherent vision that united stakeholders and the wider project team.
KCA championed the design and content through to installation. We drew on our network of scientific experts to guide the content developed for Mishkat, including Imperial College Energy Futures Lab, Dr. Jim Al-Khalili OBE and Dr. Graham Farmelo, a Senior Research Fellow at the Science Museum, London and Adjunct Professor of Physics at Northeastern University, USA.
Beck Interiors managed the build and installation, ACME Studios led the graphic design, and handpicked interactive exhibit contractors from around the globe were managed by our internal exhibit design team. The delivery of Mishkat was project managed by Chris Cawte of Design PM.
